Boulder County Area Agency on Aging’s Nutrition Program purchased, delivered, and distributed 26 shares of local farm produce to older adults who participate in the federal Older American's Act meal programs in the towns of Louisville, Nederland, and Lyons within Boulder County. The shares were split between at least two older adults and sometimes more, especially during peak season.The purpose of this project was to increase opportunities for food insecure older adults to consume more Colorado-grown fruits and vegetables. The outcome of this project led to at least 52 Boulder County older adults increasing their fruit and vegetable consumption, feeling supported in their community, and fostering a stronger connection to a farm.
