The Sherriff’s Management Academy is a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training program for the levels of Lieutenant and higher within the Sherriff’s Department of San Diego County. The program includes 19 different courses, ranging in topics from contracts and fiscal responsibility to leadership training and management skills. Courses are presented by subject matter experts from the Board of Supervisors, Sheriffs personnel, department heads, and the Department of Human Resources. The classes were evaluated on a scale of one to four, with four being the highest rating and reflecting the class to be of the most value. This Academy was the first of its kind for San Diego County law enforcement and is now in demand by other County departments.
