About the Program
Category: Health (Best in Category)
Year: 2014
Accidental strangulation or positional asphyxia was identified as a significant contributing factor to infant mortality. Oakland County Health Division (OCHD) developed a Safe Sleep Train-the-Trainer program to increase and integrate knowledge about safe sleep practices among community partners and nursing students. OCHD developed and provided training materials to support the educational efforts of community partners and nursing students. These partnerships allowed larger segments of the community to be reached with safe sleep messaging that otherwise might not have been possible.
