About the Program

Category: Risk and Emergency Management (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

The safety of our employees is one of the County of San Diego’s highest priorities. The Department of Human Resources’ Risk Assessment Team (RAT) and the Sheriff’s Threat Assessment Group (TAG) have joined forces and developed an invaluable collaboration in reviewing all risk assessments for the County of San Diego workplace. These risk assessments involve both internal and external threats. This partnership has allowed two very important disciplines to work together to ensure our employees are safe. This collaboration allows for expertise from the discipline of human resources and from law enforcement when dealing with these difficult and sometimes dangerous situations. This partnership allows law enforcement to get involved early in the threat assessment to ensure safety protocols are put into place when appropriate. There has been a significant increase in the number of employees who report threats, which allows the collaborative group to mitigate these threats and maintain safety in the organization.
