The Palm Beach County IT Department, Information Systems Services (ISS) has developed a robust and secure web application to provide the capability for an eligible applicant whose business was forced to close because of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Small business owners, in particular, faced challenging circumstances during this time. The Palm Beach Commissioners approved the Restart Business Grant Program on May 15, 2020, to accelerate the business's reopening hardest hit by the COVID-19.The Restart Business Grants CARES portal allows business owners in Palm Beach County to apply for the grant, check the application's status, upload the required documents, and the Reviewer module provides the Reviewer's capability to approve or deny an application. More than eight thousand applications have been processed. The Restart Grants program uses a portion of the County's millions of dollars allocated from the Federal CARES Act approved by Congress. Applicants can access the application on their smartphones, tablets, and other devices from the comfort of their homes and businesses 24/7.
