About the Program

Category: County Resiliency (Best in Category)

Year: 2018

The need to reduce our carbon footprint is a reality. Rooftop residential solar panels has become an increasingly popular option to reduce reliance on fossil fuels and to energize homes through solar energy. To assure the most expeditious processing of requests for solar permits, the Department of Permitting Services worked with the solar panel industry to develop uniform, standardized model plans for solar panel installations so that permit applications coming in utilizing the model plans could be processed on an expedited schedule. This program has resulted in the current average issuance time of just 7.2 days for these high volume requests. Before this program was implemented the average issuance time was 47 days.
