The Macomb County Register of Deed’s Super Index is a new tool to protect property rights, reduce the risk of fraud, and make real estate transactions more transparent. The register of deeds super index allows the public to search all of the text of all property documents filed with the register’s office. Previously, searches could only be performed by name of grantor and/or grantee or other officially indexed data. With this new program, all text in the documents has been scanned through optical character recognition (OCR) and anyone can search for any word in the document. The public now has an easy and reliable method of checking all recorded claims, liens and other transactions involving their property.
