For 2010, the Oakland county Parks and Recreation Commission approved a $100,000 appropriation for the implementation of the Recreation Assistance Partnership program. The Recreation Assistance Partnership program was designed to provide assistance in recreation programming to community groups in Oakland County Michigan. The commission initiated the program under the name of Community Assistance Program in 1982, allocating $20,000 for local units. The program has now been modified and renamed as the Recreation Assistance Partnership, allocating $100,000 to a broader span of community groups and meeting additional needs. It is the mission of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission to provide all people of Oakland County with recreational, leisure and learning experiences, in additional to parks, open spaces and facilities that enhance individuals’ quality of life. In an effort to help fulfill its mission, Oakland County Parks offers the Recreation Assistance Partnership, which promotes recreational activities and learning experiences for people of all ages and abilities. The Recreation assistance Partnership is available to communities that want to enhance their local event or programming with the use of Oakland County Parks equipment, programs or services. The program’s allocated services and equipment are available for use on a first come, first served basis for community groups that meet the required criteria.
