The Purposeful Aging Los Angeles (PALA) initiative is an intergovernmental partnership led by the County of Los Angeles, the City of Los Angeles, and key external stakeholders to meet Los Angeles’ commitment to become an age-friendly community. PALA draws together older adults, community organizations, experts, service providers and County and City departments into eight working groups to promote cooperation and coordination in ‘livability domains’ that reflect the priorities of older residents. By sharing best-practices, identifying gaps, and advocating for older people on issues ranging from housing to emergency preparedness to social isolation, PALA aims to better serve its large, diverse and growing older population.
