In 2011, two Miami-Dade County departments were merged to create the Public Works and Waste Management Department. This presented the newly formed Department with an opportunity to inform residents that services would not change. It also offered the Department an opening to highlight the wealth of services furnished by the Public Works functions, something that had never been done before in Miami-Dade County. To tell this important story to Miami-Dade County residents, the Department created the Public Works & Waste Management Inside Look/Overview Online Video Campaign. The campaign featured three videos that were broadcast free of charge on the County’s television station, Miami-Dade TV. The videos were also posted on YouTube, where they remain today, to help residents understand the many services provided to them by the Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department.
