The Prototypesâ Mother and Child Residential Homes on the Tustin Family Campus is a first of its kind program in Orange County. The homes, which can accommodate up to 15 families at one time, provide a range of comprehensive and integrated services for mothers and their children who are receiving services within the Orange County Social Services Agency (SSA) system. The target population for the program is mothers who are 18 years or older and have at least one child under the age of six and receive ongoing services from SSA. The families are referred to Prototypes for assessment and evaluation by their social worker. Once evaluated, the mother and up to three of her children are able to reside in the residential Homes for up to 18 months. During this time, they receive a range of counseling, life, and job skills training and supportive services geared to help improve parenting and live a life free from drugs and alcohol. A main focus of the program is to help mothers learn new skills to improve their interactions with their children, enhance their economic status, and enable them to become self-sufficient.
