The Department of Public Social Services (DPSS), in collaboration with the Law Offices of the Los Angeles County Public Defender, provided the first Proposition 47 Expungement Clinic on January 20, 2017, to over 900 DPSS customers. The clinic’s objective was to provide the community with access to legal professionals to address re-entry barriers as well as raise awareness for recent ballot measures such as Propositions 47, 64, and other applicable post-conviction services. The Proposition 47 Expungement Clinic offers a “one-stop shop” that offers customers the opportunity to review their criminal record and initiate the expungement process, if eligible.
