The Professional Development Experience (PDX) is a leadership program designed to enhance employee engagement and develop a One County Culture - our vision of the future. Tailored to specific levels of leadership with associated curriculum, PDX enables the County of Orange to administer a consistent, countywide approach in order to strategically meet our current and future talent management needs. PDX creates a space for leaders to collaborate and construct a shared vision of the future. It consists of seven to nine courses facilitated in cohort fashion, over a six-month period. Each session explores a variety of leadership concepts including: employee engagement, inspiring trust, communicating vision and purpose, work styles, change management, emotional intelligence, and coaching. Sessions include engagement activities designed to help participants immediately apply the insights gained through PDX with their teams and in their daily work. As a result of PDX, leaders gain tools and resources to successfully develop County employees. Participants expand their professional networks, understanding of County operations, and ability to work in collaboration on key countywide initiatives, diminishing traditional barriers. After participating, leaders express increased confidence, performance, and trust – key factors to employee engagement and effective execution of public sector programs.
