In January 2008, PRIDE was introduced to supervisors and employees as a way to promote organizational performance excellence, ensure employees’ knowledge and perception about the overall organizational management system and improve employee satisfaction. PRIDE is not considered a program and instead an organizational culture. The main descriptor of PRIDE is how they conduct business at Miami-Dade Park and Recreation that embraces a passion for excellence; continuous improvement to maintain a competitive advantage based on excellence; continuous learning to enable them to continuously improve; sharing information with each other so they can continuously learn; being proud of being a part of the Recreation Department which makes them want to share information; yearning to be the best so they can be proud of their work; and having a passion for excellence that drives them to be the best and defines the culture of how they conduct business.
