In 2015, the Communications and Information Technology and Police Departments partnered together to create PoliceView. PoliceView provides the general public and other interested parties with important information about select Police activity in their neighborhood for the past 30 days. The innovative PoliceView application is interactive, user friendly and helps citizens search for police activity surrounding a location. The application provides the public with police activity in their neighborhood for the past 30 days. The goal of this application is to empower citizens by providing crime information specific to their neighborhoods. PoliceView was developed to support the Police Departments Data Driven approach to policing to maintain a safe community. The police data is updated daily to keep the citizens informed with the most up to date information. In addition, PoliceView is optimized to be mobile friendly for use on smartphones and tablets and is accessible to a wide array of modern desktop and mobile internet browsers. The citizens uses the new application daily to visualize police activity geographically by address and through a GIS-enabled interface. The app also allows the Department to share information using Email, Twitter, Google Plus and Facebook or embedded URL.
