Pike County has several community centers and all of them are unique in some way. None, however, are as unique as the Kimper Community Center. It opened in November o 2009 and rivals community centers in Kentuckyâs largest cities of Louisville and Lexington. The Pike County government owns the building, which sits on land donated by the Pike County School Board. Further, the $150,000 building was funded through donations and through coal severance tax funds. It serves as a gathering place for every possible event, such as weddings and anniversaries, as well as a place for senior citizens to relax and enjoy fellowship with their peers.
