Category: County Resiliency (Best in Category)

Year: 2011

To take a step in the “green” direction, the Pike county School District was awarded grant money from the U.S. Department of Energy and the Kentucky Clean Fuels Coalition to purchase six hybrid school buses. The buses run on both diesel and electricity and will provide significant cost savings for the district. Since the program’s implementation, fuel costs for the District have already been reduced by thirty percent.
