About the Program

Category: Libraries (Best in Category)

Year: 2017

The Outdoor Adventure Kits is a collaborative project to provide free binoculars and telescopes for checkout to library customers. The kits are checked out through the Southeast Regional Library (SERL) to provide individuals and families free access to a variety of equipment for exploring the outdoors, including: a GPS unit, binoculars, telescopes, guide books and activities. In addition to the tools, the kits allow families to take advantage of making stronger bonds, healthy life-style choices, and exposure to possible career opportunities through outdoor nature and STEM based exploration. A partnership among SERL, the Town of Gilbert Riparian Preserve, Town of Gilbert Parks and Recreation Department, and the East Valley Astronomy Club (EVAC) has provided equipment and associated resources.
