About 1,000 one-day, alcohol licenses are issued annually for events by the Montgomery County Department of Liquor Control (DLC). Additionally, there are nearly 1,200 annual alcohol license holders that apply for numerous special permits, and submit hundreds of related notifications, as required by state law. To streamline the submission process, and the granting of these licenses and permits, the DLC has implemented new technology, Formstack, to allow for a trackable, online application process. This environmentally friendly solution allows for typeable applications that submit online with the click of a button. The system collects signatures by email and generates licenses that can be printed or emailed. A searchable record is generated and the software can create PDFs and Excel spreadsheets easily. The system is tied into the DLCâs master Oracle system allowing for activation of individual account numbers and an automatic deactivation process, following an event date. Investing in technology allows for a modernized and more accountable licensing system. In turn, the effort benefits the residents and businesses in Montgomery County. The change allows for convenience, accessibility and ultimately supports a vibrant hospitality culture, the local economy and makes Montgomery County a great place to live and visit.
