About the Program

Category: Civic Education and Public Information (Best in Category)

Year: 2015

This project is a shining example of how County staff from several departments can team with local a volunteer organization to develop a new and innovative project that provides a much needed service to the public at very little cost. The County teamed with the local Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to develop a lobby greeter program in the lobby of the main County government center. All the equipment was repurposed from County surplus. Existing staff put together the program materials and handle scheduling and training. The all-volunteer staff from RSVP provides a friendly smiling face to greet people who come into the building. They set the tone for the public and make the citizens feel welcome and that we are here to assist them. The public has commented on how much they appreciate having a live person who is there to answer questions and provide directions.
