During the Miami-Dade County Information Technology consolidation, it was discovered that many departments had their own Active Directory user account naming convention. The Information Technology Department (ITD) was challenged to standardize the County's enterprise Microsoft Active Directory accounts. We standardized by utilizing the employee ID number found in PeopleSoft, which is our employee system of record. The ultimate goal is to provide a unique employee identifier to be incorporated by our developers in their applications for a single sign on experience. Finally, this transition will facilitate the provisioning and deprovisioning of access throughout the employee’s lifecycle, achieving significant reductions in Information Technology (IT) support staff hours due to a reduction in help desk calls.
