Counties deal with a number of "little" issues every day - things like a broken traffic sign, a pesky pothole or debris cluttering a roadway can not only put people in danger but they lower community sentiment. These are examples of quality of life issues that adversely affect residents and visitors alike. With the new Neighborhood Enhancement Action Teams (NEAT) program under the purview of the Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management (PWWM) Department, many of these problems are adressed quickly. The primary purpose of NEAT crews is to proactively find problems and deficiencies within the County’s right-of-way and address them on site when possible. This is accomplished by having each crew find and inspect potential public safety hazards and immediately effectuating simple repairs while reporting more complex issues to the appropriate agencies. Since its inception the NEAT teams have completed an average of 94% of issues found on site.
