In 2022, Nassau County, FL piloted a new program - the pop-up Purrfect Library Cat Café. This pop-up event was a collaboration between two Nassau County departments, the Public Library and Animal Services. For two separate events, Fernandina Beach Library Community Room was temporarily transformed into a reading room & café, and filled with more than 20 free-roaming, adoptable cats. Treats, toys and lots of spaces to cuddle and read created a relaxing environment to enjoy a favorite beverage, book and furry friends – many of which found new homes.
