In 2015, the Communications and Information Technology Department and County Administration partnered together to create the Mountain Valley Pipeline Viewer. The Pipeline Viewer provides the general public and other interested parties important information about the proposed path of the Mountain Valley Pipeline and how it will impact their community and the environment. Pipeline Viewer allows users to self-select layers to show various pipeline routes, mile post markers, workspace areas and tax parcels geographically. Mountain Valley Pipeline Viewer was developed to support the County Administration ability to review the potential benefits of the pipeline as well as potential impacts to citizens, businesses and natural resources within the County. The pipeline data is updated on-demand to keep the citizens informed with the most up to date information. The app also allows citizens or staff to share information using Email, Twitter, Google Plus and Facebook or embedded URL. In addition, Mountain Valley Pipeline Viewer is optimized to be mobile friendly for use on smartphones and tablets and is accessible to a wide array of modern desktop and mobile internet browsers. The user-friendly application also offers a help section that features instructions on how to navigate throughout the application.
