Durham County Department of Social Services recognized a need to increase the capacity of the availability of computers to conduct computer-based training for workers. This training is essential to facilitating training for agency staff to learn how to do their jobs. This assists with vacancies being quickly filled with knowledgeable staff that is prepared to serve clients. A mobile training cart that houses 18 laptops was deployed in July 2017 to streamline the training process. The Quality Assurance and Training unit transitioned from a compartmentalized training process where policy was taught separate from navigation in enterprise software to an integrated training process. The new training format combined policy with software navigation for a seamless training experience, resulting in staff being more proficient in processing their work when they initiate their work with clients.
