Year: 2017

In September 2015, the County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) implemented a pilot project to deploy its Mobile Response Vehicle (MRV) to the Santa Ana Civic Center (Civic Center) on a regular basis in order to provide on-site, immediate eligibility determination for benefits, including Medi-Cal, CalFresh (food stamps), CalWORKs, and General Relief to the homeless population and others in the Civic Center area. The MRV Civic Center Outreach pilot, in close collaboration with other County agencies such as the Health Care Agency and Orange County Community Resources, was successful in its outreach efforts and, in October 2016, became a permanent aspect of the weekly services provided to the homeless population at The Courtyard, the County’s new transitional center in the Civic Center with emergency beds and enhanced services for those without permanent housing.
