The Milestone Transitional Living Program (MTLP) mission is to provide services for young adults ages 18 to under 22 years old experiencing homelessness. Our goals are to provide them with safe housing, education and stabilized employment, to build life skills, connect them with ongoing resources and support within the community. We help young adults become self-sufficient as they transition to adulthood and assist them in breaking the cycle of homelessness and dependency with the ultimate long-term goal of becoming successful contributing members of society. Since its inception in June 2012, MTLP has served over 185 youth. MTLP served thirty-three young adults and one child from October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019. MTLP is pleased to report, seventeen of the twenty or 85% of the young adults that exited our program were positive exits and eighteen out of twenty, or 90% were housed at exit. Sixteen of the twenty, or 80% of the exited youth were high school graduates. Three of the sixteen, or 19% of the exited youth were enrolled in post-secondary school. Fifteen of the twenty young adults that exited, or 75%, left Milestone employed full-time or part-time, the additional three were enrolled in school full-time and were looking for work for a total of 90%.
