In 2017, Miami International Airport (MIA) launched a comprehensive marketing campaign to showcase its position as the number one U.S. airport for international freight and second in the world to be certified as a pharmaceutical hub by IATA. A dedicated webpage, a first-of-its-kind flight tracker for cargo, print and digital advertising, and attendance at over 17 international tradeshows were some of the campaignâs primary components. Due to the vast efforts made last year, MIA has gained international attention â recognized as a finalist for the âBest Freighter Hub & Innovator of the Yearâ Award in addition to three new international cargo carriers. One of the strongest initiatives has been MIAâs route expansion into the Asian market. The goal of MIAâs cargo marketing program is to brand the airport as Americaâs New Global Gateway.
