On the heels of national breastfeeding month, Miami International Airport (MIA) un-veiled its “MIAmamas” program for traveling mothers. “MIAmamas” is a first of its kind comprehensive initiative for nursing and pumping mothers. The program includes eight custom-branded nursing suites located in highly-trafficked areas in MIA’s con-courses. Manufactured by Vermont-based Mamava, the MIAmamas suites offer passengers and employees more options than restrooms as suitable areas to nurse or pump. The edu-cational program was cleverly coined, “MIAmamas” to appeal to English, Spanish and Portuguese speakers. The multi-faceted initiative included a press conference, educa-tional awareness campaign for all airport employees, social media, signage, digital and print collateral to enhance a mother’s travel experience and a strategically designed logo to increase customer experience.
