The Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency Individual Safety Training Program is a novel program designed to identify, provide, and verify completion of required safety training opportunities; as well as, identify, provide and track the use of supplemental, industry specific safety training not necessitated by regulation. Since the programâs start date on December 14, 2012, it has been received with overwhelming support from within Land Use and Environmental Services Agency (LUESA) and throughout Mecklenburg County. The Individual Safety Training Program (ISTP) is utilized by the seven divisions within LUESA: Air Quality, Code Enforcement, Environmental Health, Solid Waste, Support Services, Tax Assessorâs Office, and Water and Land Resources. There is now a central location for accessing all required safety training and managers have the ability to track successful completion of training modules to ensure employees complete their Individual Safety Training Plans. Mecklenburg County Human Resources has requested permission to use LUESA safety training modules throughout all County departments. Additionally, the LUESA Safety Committee is providing supplemental safety training targeting secondary safety issues not required by Federal OSHA laws and North Carolina Occupation Safety and Health laws.
