Hennepin County Library has developed a web archiving program in the past year which encompasses both organizational websites and the capturing of organizational responses to COVID-19. This involved the development of capturing procedures and a web archiving platform (which is available to the public now), and the securing of funding to pay for that platform. Web archiving is a daunting challenge for archiving organizations because of the large amount of content available on line and its constantly changing nature. The circumstances of the COVID-19 crisis, work from home and a funding opportunity combined to give us the tools and incentives to develop this program, which is not only important for capturing community responses to the COVID-19 crisis, but also for the development of policies and procedures governing web archiving which will continue to serve us and the public in the years to come.
