About the Program

Category: Libraries (Best in Category)

Year: 2021

When the Palm Beach County Library System closed its doors to the public due to the pandemic in March, 2020, staff from all parts of the organization were determined to ensure that the communities we serve had access to the library resources that they have come to expect and depend on. Unsure of what lay ahead, Library staff worked diligently to transform services, collections, and activities without skipping a beat and the result was a Library System more connected with County government, the non-profit sector, and the people that call Palm Beach County home. By June 1, 2020, when its doors opened once more, processes had been updated, tools had been created and purchased, and staff learned new skills making the Library more resilient in the era of COVID-19. A year later, many of those tools and processes are still being enhanced and the Library’s relationship with the organizations and people that make up Palm Beach County continue to grow and become more profound. The Palm Beach County Library System and the staff that make it a remarkable organization have made the Library and all it offers an essential component to improving the lives of County residents.
