About the Program

Category: Personnel Management, Employment and Training (Best in Category)

Year: 2009

Responding to impending Baby Boomer staff retirements and lack of current management candidates, the Johnson County Library designed and implemented its own staff-driven Leadership Development Program to grow leaders at all levels of its organization and to ensure succession. The organization stretched resources to allow 27 staff members in 2007 and 13 in 2008 to participate in a year-long, time-intensive curriculum. The result was reinvigorated organization with upward staff movement, achieving desired outcomes.
