An issue for many county governments today is managing their jury system. Often, jurors may be ill-informed in regards to the most up-to-date information for their required attendance. In Macomb County, the county clerk needed an easy way to update the status of the online jury duty page from any location, including permitting jury clerks to update the Web page from home during snow emergency days. Jury clerks may now update the jury room Web site, to inform potential jurors whether or not they need to appear, without dedicated Web publishing software thanks to Google Docs technology. Potential jurors are able to check their attendance status on the Macomb County Clerk’s Office web site. The no-cost success of this program increases county efficiency and creates stronger relationships witht the public in regards to jury duty.
