Josephine Commons is a 74-unit, sustainable, affordable housing development, which includes a highly energy-efficient three story high-rise apartment building, and two sets of duplexes. The development is in Lafayette and is intended for low-income seniors aged 55+ and also serves a number of veterans. The property includes a community room, commercial kitchen and dining area, lounges, conference rooms, library with computer access, community gardens, bicycle parking, open space with walking trails and access to a nearby dog park. It is situated near many amenities in downtown Lafayette.County Commissioners, Housing Authority Director Frank Alexander, and other community leaders saw the significant need for the development of supportive and sustainable housing for seniors in eastern Boulder County and went ahead with the Josephine Commons project. The project represents the collaboration and teamwork of many people from across the county.
