The County of San Diego’s Pierce’s Disease Control Program regularly traps for the presence of the glassy-winged sharpshooter (GWSS), an agricultural pest that can spread Pierce’s disease, which is deadly to grapevines. To more efficiently track these trapping efforts, the program worked with an app development company to create iTrapp, an app that can map the location of traps, submit results to a central database, and generate reports to track overall sample submissions.
