Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) provides a broad array of IT services as the largest municipal technology provider for County departments, government agencies and municipal partners. ITD services range from wireless, telephony, radio, network and infrastructure to large scale application development and support. In an era of tightening government budgets, the IT department has been working with customers to minimize costs through innovation that make processes more efficient requiring less resources to meet their strategic objectives. Further, the IT workforce was united to leverage like-kind resources to realize efficiencies countywide. The best way to collaborate resulted in a centralized IT Customer Portal and its organic evolution through time. What has ultimately amassed is the capability of having a clear view of IT business strategy and consequently enhancing the agility, flexibility, and employability of new technology to meet customer objectives. As such, ITD built a customer portal establishing a paperless contract approval process as the first step of all that is to come to enhance the customer experience.
