Year: 2016
The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) tested and implemented the Integrated Mobile Health Team (IMHT) program model together with two other program models of integrated health, mental health and substance use care involving mental health partnerships with substance use programs and Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). While each of the models achieved clinically and statistically meaningful reductions in mental health, physical health and substance use symptoms, reductions in stigma of mental illness and achieved very high client satisfaction with the ability to access services when needed, the Integrated Mobile Health Team (IMHT) program model also reduced homelessness, incarcerations and emergency room visits. The IMHT providers also scored highest on service integration and enrolled the most mentally and physically ill clients, achieving greater improvements in health status.
