The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office website provides a wealth of information. People inside as well as outside the County can find specifics about law enforcement, courts, corrections, safety courses and tips, gun permits and more. One area of the site that is extremely popular is the area that contains inmate information. Previously, those looking for this data could find it on the site in a pdf document. In 2016, the server that stored this information was outdated and had to be retired. It was necessary for the County to evaluate the best way to display the same information with updated technology. An additional component that was needed to be incorporated into the design was a picture of the inmate. The County implemented new technology, Microsoft Azure App Service and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), combined with existing technology to create the solution for the inmate locator. The new technology was used to solve the problem while making the inmate information on the Sheriff’s Office website more user and mobile friendly.
