Clark County offers over a dozen Halloween events annually. In 2020, the pandemic surged, and events had to be cancelled. Halloween is an important event to children, so Clark County Special Events created a different version, one that fit the current state-of-affairs, was COVID-Compliant and socially distant, all while rallying the community at the same time. The Purpose of this event was to bridge the gap with the Counties three largest entities: Clark County Parks & Recreation, Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to work together to bring the community a safe, yet fun, mobile caravan event distributing prepackaged bags of candy directly to the valley’s families in a socially distanced format. The Honk or Treat event was designed to a fill void in our community created from the COVID restrictions to stay quarantined. The event distributed over 15,000+ bags of candy, served 15 community center neighborhoods (in all seven county commission districts), plus a local hospital children’s ward over a 2-week window leading up to Halloween, bringing joy to thousands of families. The event became such a huge success that it is already in demand to be brought back in 2021.
