The County of San Diego has created Homelessness: Letâs Talk about It, a training program to provide frontline staff from across the organization with tools and techniques to improve engagement and interactions with people experiencing homelessness. The homeless often gather in public spaces such as libraries, parks and public buildings, which can result in conflicts with general users of these public spaces. Historically, the typical approach was to work with law enforcement to encourage the homeless to move on to another location. This new training program seeks to broaden the understanding of homelessness and help connect individuals to community resources.
