The Home Chemical Collection Centers allow the residents of Miami-Dade County to safely dispose of household items that could be harmful for the environment if they were taken to the landfills. The DSWM currently maintains two facilities that collect a wide range of materials including oil-based paints, pesticides, solvents, pool chemicals, used electronics, fluorescent light bulbs (including CFLs), propane tanks and more.The Home Chemical Visits Tracking application has been created in response to the need of the DSWM’s Environmental Compliance group to track the number of daily visitors that access the collection centers,as well as the quantities and types of materials they bring. Replacing the manual process of paper logs and data entry, the new application is capable of recording and sending real time information that immediately shows in the system’s reporting suite, facilitating data analysis and decision making.
