HerTime2Shine is a one-day event that encourages girls of all ages to explore sports and fitness programs available to them in Montgomery County, Maryland. Girls have the opportunity to interact with professionals, and sample a vast selection of sports and fitness programs including roller derby, karate, dance, wrestling, and more. HerTime2Shine takes place at the Silver Spring Civic Building and is set up like a carnival where attendees earn tickets as they participate in the activities set up at each station. Tickets can be traded in for prizes or as entry to win raffle prizes. Girls get a little taste of each activity, meet other girls who play that sport, and get comfortable knowing what to expect if they decide to join that group. Parents are able to ask questions and in some cases, receive a discount or incentive to register their daughter as a HerTime2Shine participant.
