Hazardous materials are a fact of modern life, and a community’s ability to ensure the proper use, storage and disposal of hazardous materials is vital for the health and wellbeing of the residents and businesses within that community, as well as the protection and preservation of its natural resources. As a community whose residents value the health of our groundwater supply, and whose economy relies greatly on the tourism that our local springs, rivers and lakes bring, the Alachua County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) and its Environmental Protection Department (EPD) work to efficiently and effectively mitigate the risks these hazardous materials present in as transparent of a manor as is possible. As such, the Information Technology (IT) department has worked to develop a system which streamlines the process of inspecting facilities and tracking violations, as well as a system that makes accessing and downloading this information fast and easy for citizens, visitors and business owners alike.
