In March 2010, Los Angeles County Community and Senior Services (CSS) Adult Protective Services (APS) secured an agreement with and outside source for implementation and maintenance of its Harmony APS electronic solution system that replaced the Departmentâs legacy APS system. The legacy APS system was outdated technology that limited the ability of the Department to provide services to consumers (APS management and social work staff). The system only supported 40% of the social work staff. It did not provide real time status information or track APS allegations under investigation. With the Harmony for APS (HAPS) solution, the system supports 100% of the social work and management staff. The system also supports real time status and tracks all APS allegations. The system has extensive real time automated supervisory and management functions. Field investigations are stored electronically within the system and is retrievable by authorized staff. The use of this new system of data collection and retrieval has increased efficiency by providing immediate access to all APS incident reports from any location thus reducing the paperwork necessary to complete a case.
