Watershed Protection and Restoration implemented a new program in June, “Harford Streams Summer Adventure 2016”, to raise awareness and support for protecting waterways and encourage residents to explore the natural beauty of the County’s streams. Registered participants were invited to take selfies at designated stream locations and upload them on the County website. A webpage was created which included links for registrations, locations with websites, maps and roundtrip directions, uploading pictures, feedback forms, social media icons, and drawing prizes. Flyers, palm cards, or posters were distributed throughout the County. Citizens of all ages were able to register for the adventure program, which concluded September 12th. Harford Streams Summer Adventure 2016 was a huge success! We had a total of 205 participants. 65 participants earned a Summer Adventure T-Shirt. 44 were qualified for the drawing for the Pontoon Boat Trip. 22 were entered into the drawing for the family membership to the National Aquarium, and 8 visited more than all 20 locations. Feedback throughout the program was very enthusiastic. Here are a few comments from participants: “I've lived in Harford County most of my life and was able to see a bunch of places, some of which I had never been before!” “Thank you so much! We are really enjoying all these streams. I look forward to this adventure again next year!!” “I'm super excited about the adventure”, “Thank you so much!!!! It's great doing this as a family!!! Thanks again for a great program!!!” “Thanks so much for putting together such a great program. We have really enjoyed visiting in our own backyard!” “Thanks for such a fun campaign... This weekend was our first trip to Otter Point. I've lived in Bel Air my entire life and can't believe I have been missing out on such a pretty place.”
