Hartford County launched the green Star Program in the summer of 2010. The Sustainability Office, a division of the Department of Administration, in collaboration with the County’s green Team manages the Green Star Program. The Program is a way to recognize environmental stewardship actions of employees as well as to share these innovations with other employees and the Hartford County community. The action can be a program, an event, a process, or a project that implements or promotes sustainability. The Program utilizes the web, presentations and peer recognition to engage employees and share environmental stewardship accomplishments to encourage further innovation. In addition, the Green Star Program fosters a new way to communicate best practices among departments to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of government programs, policies, and operations.
