In 2009, the Clark County Development Services implemented a public outreach campaign aimed at educating homeowners about the need to obtain building permits and inspections for remodel and repair work. “Got Permits? Protect Your Home Improvements,’ is an inaugural attempt by the County to reach out to homeowners with a building safety message. The campaign utilizes multiple elements to reach the intended audience, including brochures in English and Spanish and an “Ask the Inspector” booth that makes appearances at home shows and community events. The campaign also includes a partnership with the Home Depot that has allowed Got Permits brochures to be strategically placed within nine local stores. All materials were devised with the intent of educating homeowners about when permits and inspections are required, the process for obtaining them, and the protective benefits they provide for families and homes.
