Prior to this initiative, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) had several customer facing iOS and android apps for the Miami-Dade County Transit system. These apps included the main in-house developed MDT Tracker app for journey planning and real-time tracking of transit vehicles, the EASY Pay app (third party) for purchasing mobile barcode transit passes and the Transit Watch app (third party) to report Transit related security incidents and concerns.This project consists of:- A phased modernization, redesign and rebranding of the MDT Tracker app that would consolidate the aforementioned supporting app features into one seamless mobile app, now called the GO Miami-Dade Transit app.- The introduction of a loyalty and rewards program to incentivize the use of public transportation.- The introduction of regional mobile barcode passes that will allow riders to travel across multiple modes and across multiple transit agencies via DTPW regional partnerships.The goal of this project was to improve the overall transit rider experience and to promote the ease of use of public transportation by improving the convenience and usability of the Transit app.
