Future Leaders United for Change (Future Leaders) is a countywide youth council that was created in response to Palm Beach County’s call to have the voice of our young people distinctively heard as we assess their needs and the implementation of programs and services that would impact them. Future Leaders, led by Youth Services Department staff, is comprised of a diverse cadre of local Palm Beach County residents ages 11 to 22, inclusive of youth who may be court involved, experiencing homelessness, in foster care, racial minorities, have care-giving responsibilities, LGBTQ+, idle/ disconnected, undocumented, and have special needs. The council meets monthly, contributes to the development and implementation of a dynamic Youth Master Plan in Palm Beach County, and organizes and attends many community events. Future Leaders engage with professionals and students in Palm Beach County, covering topics in the areas of economic access; parenting and role models; social and emotional supports; educational supports; health and wellness supports; and, removal of community stressors and systemic barriers.
